Comfortable Footwear: Although the hike is short (5 to 10 minutes), the terrain near the Apurímac River is dirt and rock. Wear sneakers with a good sole or light trekking shoes.
Sun Protection: UV radiation in the Andes is strong even when overcast. Use sunscreen, UV-protected sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat.
III. Health & Safety at Altitude

Respect for Heritage: When crossing the Inca Bridge, follow the instructions of the guide and the community members. The bridge sways naturally; walk calmly to enjoy the experience and take safe photos.

Is it safe to cross the Q'eswachaka hanging bridge?
Yes, it is completely safe. Although it is made of natural fiber (ichu grass), its Inca engineering technique is remarkable and can support the weight of several people at once. Additionally, the bridge is fully renewed every year in June, guaranteeing its stability.
How difficult is the hike on this tour?
The difficulty is minimal (easy). Unlike other tours in Cusco, this one does not require long hikes. The walk from the transport to the bridge takes only about 5 to 10 minutes on well-defined trails.
What is the best season to visit the bridge and lagoons?
It can be visited year-round. However, the best time is from April to October (dry season) for clear skies. June is especially special due to the bridge renewal festival.
What altitude is the Q'eswachaka Bridge at?
The bridge is located at approximately 3,800 m.a.s.l. (12,467 ft). It is a considerable altitude, so we recommend being acclimatized in Cusco for at least one day before the tour to enjoy the route without discomfort.
Does the tour include a visit to the Colonial Checacupe Bridge?
Yes, we generally include a stop in Checacupe to see its three bridges (Inca, Colonial, and Republican). It is an incredible photo opportunity and only requires a minimal payment of S/ 5.00 soles to the local community.
Can children or senior travelers join?
Absolutely! Being a low-physical-impact tour, it is ideal for families and older adults. Most of the time is spent enjoying the scenery from the vehicle and on very gentle walks.
Can you take a boat ride on the lagoons?
At some of the Four Lagoons (such as Pomacanchis) and under the Q’eswachaka bridge itself, local community members offer boat rides. This is an optional activity paid directly on-site and depends on river conditions.
Are there restrooms and restaurants along the route?
Yes, we make technical stops in Cusipata for the breakfast and buffet lunch, where there are complete restroom facilities. At the bridge area, the community also has basic services.
What should I wear for this tour?
We recommend the layering system: a warm jacket for the morning and lighter clothing for midday, as the sun at the lagoons can be strong. Don’t forget your hat and sunscreen.
Why is the price $40 USD?
Our $40 USD rate ensures quality service: comfortable transportation, groups with an appropriate number of people for personalized attention, professional guides, and guaranteed buffet meals at hygienic restaurants.
