Itinerary – Machu Picchu Full Day
Day 1 : Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco
A tour representative will pick you up at your hotel (in the historic center of Cusco) according to the designated train schedules, in tourist transportation. During this first part of the trip, you will travel by road for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes until reaching the Ollantaytambo Station. We recommend having your small backpack ready, your ID or passport, printed ticket or you can show it on your phone without any problem. Departures are between 4:00 AM and 4:20 AM when our vehicle will pick you up. You can sleep during the drive if you wish, as the road is safe and direct.
You will arrive with plenty of time at the Ollantaytambo train station to use the restrooms or buy a hot coffee while waiting for the train. The train will depart according to your assigned ticket. During the ride (approx. 1 hr 45 min), the train will take you through impressive Sacred Valley landscapes: Andean mountains, Inca agricultural terraces, and the Urubamba River.
Upon arriving at Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), you will be greeted by our transfer who will be waiting for you at the station with a sign and calling you by name. The transfer will give you a brief orientation of the area, help you organize your tickets, and you will board the Consettur Bus heading to the citadel of Machu Picchu. The bus ride up to the citadel takes approximately 30 minutes, where you can see the imposing Vilcanota River below and Putucusi Mountain ahead.
The most anticipated moment of the trip has arrived. You will enter the archaeological park by showing your ticket and passport at the checkpoint. Your professional guide (accredited) will take you on a 1 to 1.5-hour tour through the most important points of the citadel (according to the type of Entrance Ticket). After the tour, you will have 30 to 40 minutes to explore on your own and capture special moments to remember.
You will take the Consettur Bus back to Aguas Calientes along the same route. Once in town, the guide will say goodbye and can recommend places where you can have lunch. You will have time to enjoy your lunch. After lunch, you will need to head to the train station according to your schedule — just show your ticket and you’ll board. Some trains have onboard entertainment (music, dance, or a fashion show with traditional costumes, etc.).
You will arrive at the Ollantaytambo train station after traveling 1 hour and 40 minutes. Your transportation will be waiting at the Ollantaytambo station to return to the city of Cusco and will drop you off at the door of your hotel.

- Provisions: A reusable water bottle and light snacks (nuts, bars) to maintain energy.

- Absolute Punctuality: Be punctual at all times and follow your guide’s instructions to ensure train and bus coordination.
- Archaeological Respect: Follow the guide’s instructions, do not touch the stones, and stay on marked paths.
