Itinerary – Peru Cultural & Natural Experience – Andes & Lake Titicaca (10D/9N)

📍 Day 1 : Arrival and Hotel Transfer – City Tour at 1:00 p.m.

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in the historic capital. Upon your arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, our staff will be waiting with a personalized sign to transfer you by private vehicle to your hotel. During this journey, you will receive a brief introduction to the city and the best acclimatization recommendations. You will have the morning free to rest and enjoy a comforting coca leaf tea.

In the afternoon, we will begin the Archaeological City Tour, the best way to experience the grandeur of the Inca Empire. Our first stop will be Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), the most important spiritual center of the Incas, upon which the Convent of Santo Domingo was built. We will then head to the outskirts of the city to visit the imposing Sacsayhuaman Fortress, famous for its enormous stone walls fitted together with millimeter precision.

We will continue the tour visiting the mystical center of Qenqo, where sacred ceremonies were performed on carved rocks. We will then see the Puca Pucara military fortress, which served as a control and surveillance checkpoint. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, a site dedicated to the water cult with beautiful fountains and channels that flow to this day. At the end of the tour, we will return you to your hotel or drop you near the Plaza de Armas to enjoy the city’s nighttime atmosphere.

📍 Day 2 : Community Living Experience in Chinchero + Pachamanca

Our journey begins at 7:00 a.m. with hotel pickup at Plaza Regocijo to head toward the highlands of the Chinchero community. At approximately 8:30 a.m., we will be welcomed at the Tikllaywarmi cultural center in Cuper Bajo, where local families will open the doors of their home and traditions to us.

We will begin with an authentic textile workshop, participating in the entire process: from washing the wool with natural roots to learning ancient weaving techniques. We will then begin the preparation of the Pachamanca, a sacred feast cooked underground. We will actively participate in burying the food (meats, potatoes, fava beans, and humitas) over hot stones in the fire, learning about this culinary technique inherited from the Incas.

While the food reaches its perfect underground cooking point, we will take a connecting walk to Piuray Lagoon. We will enjoy the tranquility of the landscape and the views of the farmlands surrounding this mirror of water. After the walk, we return to the cultural center for the most anticipated moment: the unearthing of the Pachamanca. We will share this community lunch full of identity, freshness, and ancestral flavor. At the end of the day, around 4:00 p.m., we will head back to the city of Cusco to return to your respective hotels with the memory of a unique human and gastronomic experience.

📍 Day 3 : Machu Picchu Full Day + Night at Wifala Harmony – Urubamba

The most anticipated day begins very early, at around 4:00 a.m., with hotel pickup in Cusco to transfer to the Ollantaytambo station. At approximately 6:10 a.m., we will board the train for a winding journey through the Sacred Valley, following the course of the Urubamba River to the town of Aguas Calientes.

After meeting our guide, we will take the ascending bus to the Machu Picchu Citadel. We will take a guided tour of 1 to 2 hours, exploring the perfection of its temples, sacred enclosures, and main plazas. Our guide will immerse us in the history and mysteries of this wonder, allowing us to connect with its unique energy. After the visit, we will descend by bus to the village to enjoy free time and lunch before boarding the return train at 2:30 p.m. or 4:12 p.m. (subject to availability) to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, our private transport will be waiting for a short and comfortable journey to the city of Urubamba. We conclude this unforgettable day with the transfer to the exclusive Wifala Harmony Hotel. This accommodation, known for its innovative organic design and architecture integrated with nature, is the perfect refuge for resting after the intensity of Machu Picchu, allowing you to enjoy a night of absolute peace surrounded by the mountains of the Sacred Valley.

📍 Day 4 : Return to Cusco – Free Day

After enjoying a final restorative breakfast in the magical surroundings of the Wifala Harmony Hotel, we will begin the return to the city of Cusco. At the coordinated time, our private transport will pick you up at the hotel for a scenic journey of approximately one and a half hours through the beautiful landscapes of the Sacred Valley.

Once in Cusco, we will transfer you to your hotel so you can settle in comfortably. You will have the rest of the day free to rest and enjoy the city at your own pace. It’s the perfect time to walk leisurely through the picturesque San Blas neighborhood, visit a local art gallery, or simply relax at a café overlooking the Plaza de Armas. This rest day will allow you to recharge and enjoy the magical atmosphere that only the Inca capital can offer.

📍 Day 5 : Cusco to Puno – Sun Route

Today we embark on a fascinating journey to the Altiplano along the famous Sun Route. At 7:00 a.m., we will pick you up at your hotel to transfer you to the station, where we will begin a 10-hour journey full of history and breathtaking scenery.

During the journey, we will visit the Sistine Chapel of the Americas in Andahuaylillas, the monumental Wiracocha Temple at Raqchi, and the highest point of the route, La Raya Pass (4,335 m.a.s.l.). After enjoying a delicious buffet lunch in Sicuani and exploring ancient culture at the Pukara Lithic Museum, we will arrive in the city of Puno at around 5:00 p.m.

Upon arriving at the Puno station, exclusive transport will be waiting to transfer you to the Lake Titicaca port. There, we will board a boat that takes us into the sacred waters until we reach the Uros Floating Islands. Instead of a conventional hotel in the city, you will have the unique experience of spending the night at a hotel built on the floating islands themselves. You can enjoy the absolute tranquility of the lake, the hospitality of local families, and a starry sky like few in the world. It is the perfect setting for a total digital detox and a deep encounter with the living culture of Titicaca.

📍 Day 6 : Uros and Taquile Tour + Travel from Puno to Cusco

Waking up at sunrise over the waters of Lake Titicaca is a one-of-a-kind experience. After enjoying breakfast at your floating hotel, and as pre-arranged with our team, you will be assisted in reaching the main boat that will kick off our day’s tour.

Our first stop will be to learn more deeply about the history of the Uros Islands, getting to know more about their culture and the construction of their totora reed islands. We will then sail to Taquile Island, a place where time seems to have stood still. We will walk along its ancestral trails and witness their famous textile art, world-renowned for its fineness and symbolism. We will enjoy a traditional lunch with a view of the immensity of the lake before beginning the return.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., we will arrive at the Puno port, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to the Puno terminal. Since our transport departs at 10 p.m., we will first take you to nearby accommodation close to the terminal so you can rest until boarding time. Throughout the night, you will travel comfortably in a unit designed for rest, making the return trip to the city of Cusco and arriving at your destination first thing the following morning.

📍 Day 7 : Terminal Pickup – Free Day

Your arrival in the imperial city is expected at approximately 4:00 a.m. As you step off the bus, you will have nothing to worry about: our private transport will be waiting at the bus terminal to give you a warm and safe welcome. We will immediately transfer you to your hotel in Cusco so you can check in and continue resting after the overnight journey from Puno.

The rest of the morning and afternoon will be completely free. This day is designed for you to recharge at your own pace. You can take the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping at the San Pedro Market, walk along the cobblestone streets you’ve already come to know, or simply enjoy Cusco’s cuisine at one of the restaurants in the historic center. It is a total relaxation day to process all the experiences accumulated between the Andes and the Altiplano before your journey home.

📍 Day 8 : Palccoyo Mountain Tour

Our adventure begins at 4:00 a.m. with hotel pickup in Cusco for an approximately two-hour drive. Our first stop will be in the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a nutritious buffet breakfast that will give us the energy needed for the altitude we’re about to visit.

After breakfast, we will continue by vehicle for one more hour until we reach the starting point of the Palccoyo route. Unlike other rainbow mountains, here we will take a gentle walk of approximately 40 minutes along a trail with little elevation gain. During the hike, we will witness the spectacular appearance of three rainbow-colored mountains spread across the horizon, in addition to having a privileged view of the majestic Ausangate Snowcap.

We will also explore the fascinating Stone Forest, natural geological formations that appear to stand as guardians of the mountain. After capturing the best photographs and enjoying the peace of this unique ecosystem, we will return to our vehicle to head back to Cusipata, where a comforting buffet lunch awaits us. After lunch in Cusipata, we will begin the return to the city of Cusco. The tour concludes at approximately 5:00 p.m. at Plaza Regocijo or Plaza San Francisco, just steps from the Plaza de Armas, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon in the heart of the city.

📍 Day 9 : Q’eswachaka Bridge + 4 Lakes Circuit

Our expedition into the Inca past begins at 4:00 a.m. when we pick you up at your hotel to head south of Cusco. After an approximately two-hour drive, we will arrive in the town of Cusipata for a buffet breakfast to prepare for the day.

We will continue our tour visiting the impressive 4 Lakes Circuit: Pomacanchi, Acopia, Asnaqocha, and Pampamarca. At these bodies of water we can observe migratory birds, totora reeds, and rural landscapes reflecting the peaceful life of the Andes. After this scenic tour, we will head to the province of Canas, specifically to the district of Quehue, where the majestic Q’eswachaka Bridge is located.

This hanging bridge made of ichu plant fiber is more than 500 years old and is rebuilt annually by local communities through an ancestral ritual. We will have the opportunity to cross this Inca bridge, feeling the thrill of walking over a masterpiece of pre-Hispanic engineering that spans the Apurimac River.

After experiencing the ancestral tradition of the Inca bridge and enjoying our lunch, we will begin the return journey. At approximately 5:30 p.m., transport will drop you off at Plaza Regocijo or Plaza San Francisco, where our cultural expedition day will conclude.

📍 Day 10 : Farewell – Departure Transfer

Today concludes your unforgettable journey through the Andes and the Altiplano. After enjoying your last breakfast in the imperial capital, you will have the morning free for last-minute artisan shopping or to visit that corner of Cusco that captivated you most.

At the coordinated time (approximately 2.5 hours before your flight or bus departure), we will pick you up at your hotel for a private transfer to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport or the Cusco bus terminal.

We bid you farewell with the satisfaction of having shown you the essence of our culture, from the majesty of Machu Picchu and the peace of Urubamba, to the magic of the floating islands on Titicaca and the living engineering of Q’eswachaka. Have a wonderful trip home and we hope to see you soon on a new adventure!

General Recommendations

I. Before the Trip

  • Advance ticket purchase: Make sure to book your Machu Picchu entrance (Circuit 1 or 2 depending on availability), your tourist train ticket, and ascending/descending bus in Aguas Calientes well in advance. If you want to add Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, also do this well ahead of time as capacity is limited.
  • Check your documents: Carry your original passport or national ID in good standing and valid condition. It is essential for all site entries and must match the name on your tickets.
  • Prior acclimatization: Cusco is at 3,399 m.a.s.l., so we recommend arriving at least one day before the start of the tour to adapt to the altitude and avoid altitude sickness.
  • Travel insurance: Get insurance covering medical emergencies, cancellations, and lost luggage.

II. What to Pack

  • Small backpack (max 25L) for daily excursions.
  • Layered clothing: light t-shirts, windbreaker, thermal layers for cold mornings and nights, and comfortable clothes for walking.

  • Sun hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
  • Trekking or comfortable sneakers with good non-slip soles.
  • Reusable water bottle and energy snacks.
  • Cash in soles for tips, additional entrances, and purchases.

III. During the Tour

  • Follow the schedules indicated by the guide to make the most of each visit.
  • Pay attention to your guide’s instructions, especially at archaeological sites and natural routes.
  • Respect the heritage and nature—do not touch Inca structures or leave trash.
  • Stay hydrated, eat light, and notify your guide if you experience altitude sickness symptoms.

IV. Things to Avoid

  • Do not bring drones, large tripods, or bulky bags to Machu Picchu.
  • Do not eat food inside archaeological sites.
  • Do not leave the group or take your own routes during excursions.
