This is an intense Nature and Culture experience of approximately 12 hours, designed to concentrate the Colca’s main attractions in a single day. The day requires a very early start at approximately 3:00 AM with pickup at your Arequipa hotel, traveling directly to the town of Chivay. The first stop is in Chivay to enjoy a Traditional Breakfast (included). The tour’s highlight is the Cruz del Condor Viewpoint, where you can appreciate the canyon’s immensity and the majestic flight of the condor. The return route includes cultural stops at Antahuilque (pre-Inca terraces), Maca, and Yanque, where you will have free time to optionally visit the Hot Springs (extra cost). Lunch takes place in Chivay (not included) before heading back. Itinerary – Colca Canyon Full Day
Day 1 : Arequipa - Chivay - Cruz Del Condor View Point - Return To Arequipa
We will begin our tour very early with pickup from your hotel at 3:00 AM, departing from the city of Arequipa toward the first town of Chivay, on a drive of approximately 3 hours. Upon arriving in Chivay, we will enjoy a delicious traditional breakfast to recharge our energy. Afterward, we will continue to the Cruz del Condor Viewpoint, the most anticipated point of the tour, where we can appreciate the imposing depth of the Colca Canyon and, with a bit of luck, the majestic flight of the condors.
Once the visit is over, we will begin the return, which will be very exciting as we will have different stops at various viewpoints. Among them will be: Antahuilque, where we will observe the impressive pre-Inca farming terraces. Maca, where we will visit its colonial church. We will continue to Yanque, where we will have time to enjoy the volcanic hot springs (optional, for 1 hour).
Once the relaxation hour is over, we continue to Chivay, where you can choose which restaurant to have lunch at. After this lunch, we will continue the return to Arequipa, making our last stops at: the Andes Viewpoint at Patapampa (16,076 ft / 4,900 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the trip, from where you can see the chain of volcanoes. Then we will visit the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, where we will observe Andean wetlands and local wildlife, such as vicuñas, alpacas, and high-Andean birds. In this way, we will finish the tour in Arequipa at
approximately 5:30 PM.
