Itinerary – Essence of the Inca Empire – Classic Cusco & Machu Picchu (5D/4N)

📍 Day 1 : Reception in Cusco + Half Day City Tour

Upon your arrival at the Cusco airport, our staff will be waiting in the arrivals area with an identification sign to welcome you. Once gathered, we will accompany you to the assigned transport for a direct transfer to your hotel in the city. During this ride, you will receive initial recommendations and begin your acclimatization to the Andean altitude.

Once at your accommodation, you will have free time to rest, freshen up, and enjoy a light lunch on your own. The meeting point to start our adventure will be at the hotel. There you will meet our specialized guide to begin this cultural tour covering the essence of Inca architecture and colonial history.

The first stop will be the astonishing Qorikancha, the ancient Temple of the Sun and the most sacred precinct of the Inca Empire. Here, you will appreciate the impressive polished stone construction technique, upon which the Santo Domingo Convent was built, creating a unique architectural contrast between the Andean and European worlds.

Next, we will travel to the outskirts of the city to visit the imposing Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, famous for its megalithic walls of gigantic stones. We will continue to the ritual center of Qenqo, with its underground galleries carved in rock, and the fortress of Puca Pucara, an ancient military watchtower. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, the temple dedicated to the worship of water, before returning to the city center in the late afternoon at Plaza Regocijo.

📍 Day 2 : Sacred Valley VIP Full Day

We will begin our day with pickup from the hotel to embark on a tour through the most exclusive and fascinating areas of the Sacred Valley. Our first stop will be the town of Chinchero, where we will visit its historic colonial church and participate in an ancestral textile demonstration to learn about the natural process of dyeing alpaca wool.

We will continue to the agricultural laboratory of Moray, an impressive system of concentric circular terraces that the Incas used to experiment with various microclimates. Just minutes away, we will explore the Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular complex of over 3,000 white salt pools that have been artisanally harvested from pre-Inca times to the present day.

At noon, we will travel to the city of Urubamba to enjoy a Buffet Lunch, where you can sample the very best of regional cuisine. After a brief rest, we will head to the Ollantaytambo fortress, known as the “Living Inca City.” There, we will climb its monumental stone terraces to appreciate the magnificence of its architecture and the original urban design that is still preserved today.

Finally, we will visit the archaeological center of Pisac, famous for its extensive Inca cemeteries and impressive views of the Vilcanota River. After completing this comprehensive tour of the five most important points in the valley, we will return to the city of Cusco, ending the day near Plaza Regocijo or Plaza San Francisco at approximately 7:00 PM.

📍 Day 3 : Panoramic Train + Machu Picchu with guide

Our day will begin at 4:00 AM with pickup from your hotel in Cusco to transfer to the Ollantaytambo station. We will board the 6:40 AM train, enjoying a scenic one-and-a-half-hour journey to the town of Aguas Calientes, arriving at approximately 8:15 AM. Upon exiting the train, our assistant will be waiting at the station exit with a sign bearing your name to give you final instructions and accompany you to the bus station (located just steps away).

Once at the bus station, you will board the transport that will take you on a 25-minute ride to the citadel entrance gate. It is essential to respect your entry time (between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM), so we recommend boarding the bus well in advance. Right at the main entrance checkpoint of Machu Picchu, you will meet your professional guide who will be calling you by name and connecting with you via WhatsApp minutes beforehand, waiting to start the tour. It is important to have your ticket and ID readily available for this meeting point.

Over approximately two and a half hours, we will complete the guided circuit through the most important temples and terraces of the sanctuary. At the end of the tour, the guide will direct you to the exit so you can take the bus down on your own to Aguas Calientes. In the town, you will have time for lunch and to browse the artisan markets. You must arrive at the Aguas Calientes train station 30 minutes before your departure (scheduled between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM, subject to availability).

Upon your arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, our transport will be waiting in the passenger exit area for the final transfer back to Plaza Regocijo in Cusco, ensuring a comfortable and punctual end to the day.

📍 Day 4 : Rainbow Mountain Full Day or Humantay Lake

Below, we present the two best nature experiences to cap off your trip. Both options include pickup from your hotel very early (between 4:00 and 4:30 AM) to make the most of the day.

OPTION A: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN (VINICUNCA)

This expedition will take you through high-Andean landscapes to the famous Rainbow Mountain. After an energizing breakfast in the town of Cusipata, we will begin a hike of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours (moderate level) until reaching 16,519 ft / 5,036 m.a.s.l. From the summit, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the multicolored layers and the majestic Ausangate snow-capped peak. It is the perfect option if you are looking for the most iconic photograph of the Peruvian Andes. The return to Cusco includes a buffet lunch and approximate arrival at 5:00 PM.

OPCIÓN B: LAGUNA HUMANTAY

If you prefer glacier landscapes and crystal-clear waters, this is the ideal choice. We will travel to the town of Mollepata for breakfast and then continue to Soraypampa. From there, we will begin an ascending hike of 1.5 hours until reaching the foot of the Humantay snow-capped peak, where the impressive turquoise-colored lagoon is located. You will have time to connect with nature and make stone offerings (apachetas) in front of the glacier. Includes a regional lunch and return to Cusco at approximately 6:00 PM.

📍 Day 5 : Farewell - Departure Transfer

On your last day in the imperial city, you will have free time according to your personal itinerary to make last-minute purchases, stroll through the picturesque San Blas neighborhood, or visit the central San Pedro market. It is the ideal time to enjoy the local gastronomy one last time and capture your final memories of the Capital of the Incas.

The transfer to the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport or the Bus Terminal will be carried out in strict coordination with your flight or bus departure time. Our staff will agree with you on the exact pickup time at your hotel to ensure you arrive at your destination with the necessary advance time, guaranteeing a smooth and hassle-free boarding process.

With this service, we conclude our assistance, thanking you for the trust placed in us to accompany you on this adventure. We wish you a safe journey home!
